CSRP Stock Style Disc Brakes

When I picked up the convertible, the front end shook and it was nearly uncontrollable when I hit a pothole. The pothole problem turned out to be the front right lower control arm not being tightened down, so the camber went all over with every bump. After fixing that, it still shakes. I decided to get a fresh starting point by replacing the control arms, the strut rods, the spring perches, and the idler arm. I think the shake may be the idler, so I will replace that first and give it a test drive. I ordered all the parts at once though, so no waiting a week in between for parts.

Vintage LED Sequential Tail Lights

I have wanted sequential tail lights on my mustangs for many years. This is also a project I had considered on the 2005 when I first bought it, but just never did it. When I was building the 67, I knew I wanted to do it, but I didn’t want to add more variables for issues during the build, so I put it off to later. Later has arrived.

Swapping a 3 speed for a 5

After replacing the rear end with a stock V8 rear with 2.79 gears, the poor inline 6 engine just feels like a dog behind that 3 speed transmission. I worry if I have to start out on a hill, it won’t be able to go. That pushed me into using the 4 cylinder T5 transmission I have in the garage for this car. I am hoping that the gearing in this T5 means I wont have to replace the rear gears later as well. Gear math isn’t my thing, so I will just have to wait and see.

Forever Body Construction

While I have been fine tuning the 67 and getting my son’s car into a solid, safe place, the fastback has been slowly moving forward. Now that all the big parts are in place, the details are easy to miss since you have to look closer. Of course, when it’s done, these details are going to be what really makes it shine, but going from huge visible progress to tuning feels like things suddenly slowed down.

CVF Racing Pulley System

When I was assembling the engine, I used mostly stock parts. I had some issues getting the PA Performance 130 amp alternator fitting due to it being larger. It all started with the ’72 timing chain cover, but I was never able to really get things like I wanted. I had a constant belt squeal that just wouldn’t go away. Possibly related to the power steering pump. Trying to fix all those things at once, I ordered a CVF Racing pulley system. As a bonus, its a pretty nice dress up.

Retrosound plus odds and ends

After driving home from the alignment, I could tell I had some tuning to do. In this case, it was the shifter. With me being tall, I have my knees kind of around the wheel. The brake pedal is currently too high, compounding the problem, but I cant step on it without moving my knee to the right. Well, with the shifter arm I have, I can’t hit the brakes while in second gear.

Resurrecting an 8 inch rear

The first thing my son said when I brought home his ’67 was that we need to put a bigger motor in it. Our children do become us. I did the same thing and ended up with no engine in the car for many years. I am going to do my best to help him avoid that. To that end, rather than put more work in the front or rear brakes that are on the car, I am working on putting a V8 5 lug setup on it. For the rear, that means recovering an old 8 inch rear end Randy had growing into the earth.
